This website, dedicated to “Community and Ecology” and currently under construction, showcases the broad range of environmental research carried out in disciplines such as musicology, art history, social anthropology, archaeology, history, literary studies and religious studies at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Bern.

The website aims to foreground the often-overlooked work on “the community” and the perspectives through which human societies interact with their environmental contexts and experiences. The website is also intended as a starting point for exploring these projects and finding out more about environmental research in the humanities and cultural studies.

The photographs on the frontpage were taken during fieldresearch at Ersfjordbotn (Norway) as part of the Arctic Auditories project and were taken by Prof. Dr. Britta Sweers.
